PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team opened the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) slate on Saturday (Sept. 9) night at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium.
The Storm fell to the Cedarville University Yellow Jackets 2-0 in the conference opener for the Storm.
Ten minutes into the game, Cedarville jumped on top of the Storm. The Yellow Jackets played a cross into the box that was tapped home past the keeper. Cedarville led 1-0 at the half.
Eight minutes into the second half, Cedarville added a second goal that made it 2-0.
Cedarville outshot the Storm 13-6 in the contest, with the Storm having all six shots in the second half. Javier Borreguero (Nigran, Spain / Los Sauces School) led the Storm with two shots.
Tom John (Ahrensburg, Germany / Tennis Borussia Berlin) faced 13 Cedarville shots with three saves made in the Storm goal.
The Storm will resume Great Midwest play on Thursday (Sept. 14) at Findlay.
