PAINESVILLE, Ohio-The men's soccer team at Lake Erie College looks to welcome back the alumni of the program as they host Northern Michigan University on Friday (Oct. 14) night at home.
Coach Brenner's Take: "It's vital that we show consistency tomorrow night. As a team, we speak of the four pillars to win a college soccer game, tomorrow night we need to be the harder working and more clinical team in all those areas. The players will be up for the game as we are expecting a big crowd on hand for soccer alumni weekend."
Storm Report: Lake Erie defeated Ashland 3-0 on Wednesday (Oct. 12) afternoon to improve to 7-4-2 overall. The win gave the Storm three points and a 5-4-2 GLIAC record. Samuel Mutemwa (Johannesburg, South Africa/Sandringham High School), Max Maguire (Letchworth, England/Hitchin College) and Stuart Campbell (Glasgow, Scotland/Glasgow Academy) all scored goals in the Storm's nation-leading ninth shutout of the year, a new school record.
GLIAC Honorable Mention: Joseph Munaretto (Painesville, Ohio / Riverside) was named the GLIAC Honorable Mention list for offense. Munaretto scored one goal on four shots in the two games last week. Hugo Fauroux (Cannes, France / Lycee Bristol) made 12 saves with two goals allowed in two games as he was named Defensive HM.
Series History: The Storm defeated the Wildcats 1-0 in September for the first matchup of the series. Jesse Schluter scored the only goal of the game for Lake Erie.
Opposition Position: The Wildcats enter the matchup with a 3-7-1 overall record and a 3-6-1 GLIAC record. Northern Michigan dropped a 3-1 decision to Ohio Dominican on Sunday (Oct. 9) at home.
Storm Forecast: Next on the schedule, the Storm will travel to Michigan for games against Saginaw Valley State and Northwood next weekend.
