FINDLAY, Ohio – The Lake Erie College men's soccer team was defeated today by the University of Findlay, 3-2. With the loss the Storm falls to 1-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the conference and with the win the Oilers improve to 3-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
Lake Erie opened the scoring when Chad Bencina (Willoughby, Ohio / Willoughby South) scored an unassisted goal in the first minute of the game. Findlay answered back less than a minute later when Ryan Husband tied the game with an unassisted goal. The Oilers took the lead when Mark Sleasman scored off of an assist by Husband. Findlay made the score 3-1 when Husband scored an unassisted goal.
The only goal of the second half was when Findlay scored an own goal on a ball that was misplayed by the goalie, to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Oilers.
In net for the Storm was Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont. / Pikering) he faced 14 shots, eight of which were on goal, made five saves, and allowed three goals.
Lake Erie will be back in action Friday (September 25th) when they host Walsh at 1 P.M.
