PAINESVILLE, Ohio-- The Lake Erie College men's soccer team applied pressure to the Walsh University defense throughout the game but were unable to find the back of the net as the Storm fell at home,2-0, in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match Friday (Sept. 27).

The Cavaliers scored the lone goal of the first-half in the 16th minute on a Sam Mountstephens kick. Goalkeeper Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont./Pikering) and the Storm defense held tough the rest of the half. Offensively, Andrew Bucur (Bedford, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) led the Storm with three shots.

Early in the second-half, Walsh converted a corner kick by Dillion Parsons into a goal as Chris Lynch headed the ball through a mass of people in front of the net. The Storm had plenty of offensive opportunities, including four corner kicks in a two minute span midway through the half, but were unable to convert as Cavalier goalkeeper Justin Nolan made six second-half saves- nine total- to secure the win.

Ljubevski made nine saves in the game. Alfred Majer (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) led the Storm in shots with eight. The Storm outshot Walsh 24-10.

The Storm returns to action on the road next Friday (Oct. 4) to face Malone University in a GLIAC contest.
