FINDLAY, Ohio—The Lake Erie College men's soccer had one of their biggest offensive performances in recent history, breaking through for four goals as they defeated Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) foe University of Findlay, 4-1, in Findlay, Ohio on Friday (Sept. 20).
The Storm (3-1-1, 2-1 GLIAC) were lead on offense by Alfred Majer (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) who scored his third, fourth and fifth goals of the season in the win.
The Oilers (1-3-1) struck first in the 19th minute when Mark Sleasman scored on a breakaway. The lead would be short lived as Majer scored his first goal of the game three minutes later on a pass from Ryan Gibson (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Scotio) to tie the game up.
Three minutes into the second-half, the Storm took the lead when freshman Jeffery Swanson (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) scored his first goal of the season, a goal once again assisted by Gibson. Gibson picked up his third assist of the game twenty minutes later when Majer scored his goal of the contest to increase the Storm lead. Majer added one more goal late in the half to secure the Storm win.
Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont./Pikering) picked up his third win in net for the Storm this season, making two saves. The Storm defense limited the Oilers to just nine total shots, three on goal, for the game.
The Storm returns to action on Sunday (Sept. 22) for a GLIAC home contest against 23rd-ranked Ohio Dominican University at 2 pm.
