MIDLAND, MICHIGAN—A strong second half for Northwood University lifted them past the Storm, 2-1, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup in Midland, Michigan on Friday (Oct. 5).
The Storm (2-9, 1-7 GLIAC) struck first in the 40th minute when Stefan Martin (Surrey, England) stole the ball of goalkeeper Johannes Sterobo and put it in the back of the net, giving the Storm a 1-0 lead.
The game remained 1-0 until the 72nd minute until Sam Nair scored twice for the Timberwolves (5-3-1, 5-3 GLIAC) in an eight minute span to put Northwood in front 2-1. The Timberwolves defense was able to shut the Storm down the final eight minutes of play to hold on for the 2-1 win.
Filip Ljubevski (Ajax, Ont./Pickering) recorded eight saves in net for the Storm in the lose.
The Storm return to action on Sunday (Oct. 7) to face the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio at 12:00 pm in a GLIAC match.
