PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Lake Erie College men's soccer coach Davie Carmichael has announced the signing of Cleveland area product Cory Bucur to a letter of intent during the spring signing period. Bucur, from St. Peter Chanel High School, is the first recruit for the Storm under Carmichael, who took over as head coach in January.

"I am delighted with the addition of Cory Bucur to our program," said Carmichael. "He is a model student-athlete and I have no doubt he will integrate into our team and transition to college soccer smoothly. I am excited to have him as my first recruit as head coach and his signing is a sign or our continuing high ambitions. "
The Firebirds captain and offensive player of the year for three years, Bucur was twice voted St. Peter Chanel's most valuable player. He scored 49 goals and added 42 assists in his high school career.
"Cory is a proven goal scorer and gives us a variety of attacking options," added Carmichael. "He is an industrious worker that can hold the ball and shift defenses with terrific movement off it."
He was equally impressive off the field as well, earning All-Ohio Academic honors . He is a member of National Honor Society and is involved with the school newspaper, yearbook and peer ministry.
