PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The 10th ranked Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team was in action today as they defeated Davis and Elkins, 22-6.
Three minutes into the game, the Storm grabbed a 1-0 lead when Patrick Bay (Canadaigua, N.Y. / Canadaigua Academy) scored an unassisted goal. Less than a minute later, Lake Erie added a second goal when Micah Daigle (Erie, Pa. / McDowell) scored off a feed from P. Bay. A minute and a half later, the Storm scored a third straight goal when John Kezerian (Melrose, Mass. / Malden Catholic) found the back of the net. Less than a minute later, Tim Bay (Canadaigua, N.Y. / Canadaigua Academy) scored off a feed from James Chadwick (Amherst, N.Y. / Amherst Central) and gave the Storm a 4-0 edge. 17 seconds later, the Storm made the score 5-0 when Edmond Renaud (Carlisle, Ont. / Waterdown District / Pfeiffer) scored an unassisted goal. Jordan Hendrycks (Ottawa, Ont. / A.Y. Jackson) scored the Storm's sixth goal with just over seven minutes remaining in the first quarter. Thirty seconds later, the Senators cut into the Storm lead with a goal, and made the score 6-1 in favor of Lake Erie. A minute later, the Storm regained their six goal lead when Jacob DesRosiers (Brighton, Mich. / Brighton) scored an unassisted goal. T. Bay scored three goals in a two minute span and gave the Storm a 10-1 lead with just under four minutes to play in the quarter. Renaud added to the Storm lead with three minutes remaining in the first quarter when he scored an unassisted goal. T. Bay scored a goal with five seconds remaining in the quarter and the Storm took a 12-1 lead into the second quarter.
Lake Erie carried their momentum over to the second quarter as Kezerian scored the opening goal of the quarter off an assist from T. Bay. About two minutes later, Davis and Elkins scored a goal and made the score, 13-2 with just under 12 minutes remaining in the half. After five minutes of scoreless action, Hendrycks found the back of the net for Lake Erie. The Senators answered a minute later with a goal of their own. With less than a minute remaining in the half, Hunter Hays (Plain City, Ohio / St. Francis DeSales) scored for the Storm and Lake Erie took a 15-3 edge into the intermission.
The second half started out defensively as the opening five minutes were scoreless before the Senators scored a goal. Lake Erie responded three minutes later when Alexander Corbett (Orchard Park, N.Y. / Bishop Timon) scored an unassisted goal to give Lake Erie a 16-4 edge. The Senators scored the final goal of the quarter, but the Storm led 16-5 entering the final quarter.
The first eight minutes of the fourth quarter were scoreless, but the Storm broke the drought with six straight goals over a six minute span. The goals were scored by Bret Swan (Acton City, Ont. / Halton Hills), Nathan Quinn (Hamburg, N.Y. / Bishop Timon St. Jude), Brandon Sheedy (Toronto, Ont.), Hays, and Neil Gardner (Buffalo, N.Y. / Bishop Timon). Anthony Vitale (Penfield, N.Y. / Penfield), DesRosiers, and Tommy Bichsel (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville North) all had assists during the span. The Senators scored the final goal of the game, but the Storm won, 22-6.
The Storm was led by T. Bay as he had five goals, and an assist in the game. The Storm had 13 different players score goals in the game. Defensively, the Storm was led by Mack Fall (Morgantown, W. Va. / University) as he had three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
Lake Erie will be back in action Saturday (April 7) when they travel to take on Wheeling Jesuit, with the game set to start at 1 p.m.
