PERRY, N.Y.-- Lake Erie College men's lacrosse goalie Nicholas Simonetti was announced as the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division-II Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in net in wins over the University of Tampa and Wheeling Jesuit University last week.
This marks the second time this season that Simonetti has earned the national honor.
In the Storm's win over Tampa, Simonetti made a season-high 16 stops, allowing just seven goals. Against Wheeling Jesuit, SImonetti made nine stops, allowing six goals.
Simonetti currently ranks second nationally in goals against average with 5.89 goals. His save percentage of .590 is ninth best. As a team, the Storm defense ranks third in the country in scoring defense, giving up an average of 5.89 per game.
The Storm is back in action Saturday (April 11), playing host to Seton Hill University.
