
PHILIPPI, W. Va.-- The top-ranked Lake Erie College men's lacrosse team picked up its seventh straight win to open the season, defeating Alderson Broaddus University 16-3 Saturday (March 28).
The Storm started off hot, scoring seven goals in the first quarter. The Battlers scored two in the second quarter but the Storm match to take a seven goal lead into the half.
The Storm added two more in the third quarter before outscoring the Battlers 5-1 in the final frame.
Reagan Harding (Saskatoon, Sask./Bishop James Mahoney) led the Storm with four goals. Austin Bishop (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) tallied five points on two goals, three assists. Lucas Shafer (Hambrug, N.Y./Hamburg) also had five points on the one goal, four assists. Robert Pelkey (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport/Finger Lakes CC) scored three goals. Mitchell Shafer (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) had two goals and one assists while Courtland Black-Araujo (Bowmanville, Ont./St. Stephen Secondary/Onondaga CC) had two goals. Matthew Redmond (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) and Mitch Redmond (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) had one goal apiece. Jacob Mitchell (York, Pa./Dallastown) and Mitchell Stokes (New Westminster, B.C./New Westminster Secondary) had an assist each.
Nicholas Simonetti (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Jerome/Queens) picked up the win in net, making two saves. Tom Lipomi (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) and Dylan Dix (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) combined for seven saves.
Justin Goodwin (New Westmisnter, B.C./New Westminster), Lucas Shafer and Alexander Mueser (Wexford, Pa./Vincentian Academy) casued two turnovers apiece.
The Storm is back in action Wednesday (April 1) at home against ninth-ranked University of Tampa.
