CENTERVILLE, Mass.— Trevor Tarte, Justin Goodwin, Rashad Brown and Austin Bishop swept the ECAC Conference Player of the Week honors for their play in the 14th-ranked Storm wins over Roberts Wesleyan College (April 16) and Walsh University (April 18).
Tarte (Amhertsburg, Ont./Kiski Prep) tallied a total of nine points on seven goals, two assists for the week to earn his second Offensive Player of the Week honors of the season. Against Roberts Wesleyan, Tarte scored four goals and assisted on one more in addition to collecting three groundballs and causing one turnover. Against Walsh, Tarte tallied four points on three goals, one assist as well as grabbing four groundballs and causing a turnover. For the season, Tarte has 35 points on a team-high 29 goals, six assists.
Goodwin (New Westminster, B.C./New Westminster) totaled 18 groundballs and eight caused turnovers over the course of the week for his second ECAC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Against Roberts Wesleyan, Goodwin collected nine groundballs while causing six turnovers. He matched his groundball total against Walsh in addition to causing two turnovers. For the season, Goodwin leads the Storm with 76 groundballs and 24 caused turnovers.
Brown (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport/Genesee CC/Mars Hill) won 28-of-37 (75.6%) of his faceoffs and collected 10 groundballs in two games to earn his second ECAC Specialist of the Week honors this season. Against Roberts Wesleyan, Brown won nine-of-16 faceoffs (56.3%) and collected two groundballs. He was dominate against Walsh, winning 19-of-21 (90.4%) faceoffs while grabbing eight groundballs. This season, Brown has won 132-of-219 (60.2%) of his faceoffs and is second on the team with 49 groundballs.
For the week, Bishop (Hamburg, N.Y./Hamburg) totaled nine points on four goals, five assists while collecting three groundballs to earn ECAC Co-Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season. Against Roberts Wesleyan, Bishop scored two goals and assisted on three, while grabbing a groundball. Bishop scored two goals and had two assists and two groundballs against Walsh. For the season, Bishop 30 points on 20 goals, 10 assists.
The Storm is back in action Saturday (April 26) against Mercyhurst University in an ECAC showdown.
