Whites in 13th After Opening Round of NCAA Regional #2

PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- Junior Frank Whites III (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) shot a five-over 76 in the opening round of the Great Lakes Regional #2 Monday (Oct. 18) at Glen Echo Country Club in St. Louis, Mo. to tie for 13th place after 18 holes.  As a team, the Lake Erie College men sit in 13th place of 15 teams.

Whites finds himself just six strokes in back of the lead, tied with two others.  Junior Matt Hennessey (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) shot the next lowest round for Lake Erie, with a plus-nine 80.  Sophomore Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and junior C.J. Milo (Concord, Ohio/Mentor) are tied at 86 and freshman Tyler Walters (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) is one stroke behind them.

The Storm totaled a 328 in the first round, three shots ahead of William Jewell College and seven behind Maryville University.

Host University of Missouri-St. Louis holds the team lead by five strokes over Drury University.  UMSL's Matthew Rau is the top individual with a one-shot lead over teammate Ryan Penfield.

Round two will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19.
