PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- After a decent opening round that had the Lake Erie College men's golf team 16 shots off the lead, a second-round 330 score has the Storm in 11th place through two rounds of the 2010 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Golf Championship Sunday (Oct. 3) at Grosse Ile Golf & Country Club in Grosse Ile, Mich.
Darkness ended the second round a bit earlier with some teams still on the course. They will resume play at 9:30 a.m. on Monday (Oct. 4) with the third and final round to begin approximately at 10:30.
Senior C.J. Milo (Painesville, Ohio/Mentor) shot 78 in both rounds and is tied for 32nd place individually at 156. Sophomore Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) and junior Frank Whites III (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) are tied for 46th at 163.
Junior Matt Hennessey (Chardon, Ohio/Chardon) shot the Storm's low round of the day with a 77 in the first round, but struggled in the second round with an 87 to sit at 164. Sophomore Troy Hunter (Aurora, Ohio/Crestwood) rounds out the LEC scoring at 92-85-177.
Ferris State, one of the team's still to finish out round two, is currently in the team lead by one stroke over host Wayne State University. Ferris State's Kyle Wittenbach has a four-stroke lead for individual medalist honors.
