PAINESVILLE, OHIO - Junior C.J. Milo (Painesville, Ohio/Mentor) tied for 10th individually and the Lake ErieCollege men's golf team posted its first top-10 team finish of the season with a ninth-place showing at the ODU/Otterbein Kisor Classic in Pataskala, Ohio this weekend (Sept. 11-12).
As a team, the Storm finished just one stroke behind eighth-place Norwestern Ohio and two shots behind St. Francis (Ind.). Marian College (Ind.) won the 16-team event with a team score of 873, 17 strokes better than runner-up Heidelberg.
Milo carded a 76-72-77-225 (+9) for the weekend, sharing 10th place with three others. His even-par second round was just the eighth such round at Lake Erie since 2001. Heidelberg's Zack Koinis was the individual medalist, shooting a 212 (-4).
In addition to Milo, sophomore Frank Whites (Wickliffe, Ohio/Wickliffe) battled back from a rough first round to finish in a tie for 30th individually at 81-75-75-231 (+15). Junior Mike Meyers (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) shot 74 in the final round to finish at 79-82-74-235 (+19), good for a tie for 41st.
Freshman Mike Guarino (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) tied for 47th at 80-78-79-237 (+21) and senior Steve Bragg (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) came in 78th at 82-85-81-248 (+32).
