(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – The Lake Erie men's basketball team returns home for the first time in the New Year with a G-MAC clash against Malone. The Storm enter with an overall record of 9-7 and are 3-3 in the G-MAC. The Pioneers are 9-6 overall and 3-2 in the league, but are in eighth place in the G-MAC point rating system behind Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican who are tied for sixth.
The Storm will be looking to break a trend that has lasted the past two seasons when these two teams have met where the visiting team has won. Last season saw Malone win almost a year ago to the day 67-64 at the Osborne Center, while the Storm took a 79-71 at Osborne Hall in the regular season finale.
Both teams are fairly even on offense as the Storm average just .2 points per game more than the Pioneers. Gabe Kynard leads the Storm and G-MAC in scoring with 20.3 points per game, while the Pioneers counter with Jaret Majestic who pours in 15.1 a contest. Kynard also tops the Storm with 6.3 rebounds per game. The Pioneers will punch back with Marcus Ernst who is second in the league with 9.7 rebounds per game.
Coverage will be provided by the Great Midwest Digital Network. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
