(GREENWOOD, Ind.) - The 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Only six were selected to the NCAA Division II District 4 First Team, and Lake Erie's own Gabe Kynard was one of the few chosen.
Kynard has had an incredible season on the court while he continues to be excellent in the classroom with a 3.80 cumulative GPA as an accounting and Spanish major. The junior guard leads the team and is third in the G-MAC with 18.5 points per game. He's scored in double-figures in all but two games this season and has eclipsed the 20-point plateau in 10 games.
Joining him on the District 4 First Team are Avery Hudson (Davenport), Tyler Jenkins (Bellarmine), Drew Noble (Ashland), Daniel Ramser (Bellarmine), and Alex Stein (Southern Indiana).
The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March. The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
The Division II and III Google Cloud Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2018-19 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA Google Cloud Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
