(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Lake Erie looks to keep its home win streak intact as it hosts Davis & Elkins to close out the opening weekend in G-MAC competition on Saturday afternoon. The Storm (4-3, 1-0) were big winners in Thursday's conference opener against Alderson Broaddus, while the Senators (1-4) are starting league play with this game.
Head Coach Kyle Conley's crew currently holds the top-ranked scoring and field goal percentage defense in the league holding opponents to 64.7 points per game on a 39.6 percent clip. The Storm are also forces on the missed shots as well with a G-MAC best mark of 43.7 rebounds per game. A good chunk of those are on the offensive end as their 15.14 caroms on the scoring end currently rank No. 12 nationally.
The Senators are decent on the offensive glass themselves as they have pulled down 11.2 per game for the fifth-best mark in the G-MAC.
Both teams are close to each other on offensive production with Lake Erie holding a slight edge in points per game by a 69.3-68.4 difference. Gabe Kynard is near the top of the G-MAC with 16.9 points average, while D&E goes through Trevor English for 14.0 points an outing. Both teams also have one of the best players in the nation in field goal percentage. Lake Erie's David Dunnigan currently has a .667 average, while English is just a hair behind him at .660.
Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. following the women's game. While it is the first day of December, it will be the only home game for the Storm this month. After Saturday, the Storm will travel for their next five contests.
