PAINESVILLE, Ohio- Following the Thanksgiving holiday, the Lake Erie Storm men's basketball team will play in the Gary Miller Classic, hosted by Gannon University. The Storm will face the host Gannon in the 7:30 PM game on Friday (Nov. 25).
Gary Miller Classic: Lake Erie joins GLIAC foe Ohio Dominican and future GMAC opponent Malone in the Classic. The Panthers face the Pioneers at 5:00 PM, with the championship and consolation games taking place on Saturday. Lake Erie will either face ODU or Malone.
Storm Warning: Lake Erie dropped their fourth straight game in a 79-76 loss to Seton Hill on Tuesday. Nick Wells led the Storm with 13 points. Lake Erie led by 16 points in the second half but fell with 16 seconds left.
Opposition Position: Gannon enters the matchup with the Storm with an 1-1 overall record thisseason. Gannon lost to West Chester 76-63 but defeated Cheyney 81-48 over the weekend. Sophomore Evan Phoenix leads with the team with 22 points per game and 13 rebounds per game.
Series History: Since Lake Erie joined D2, the Storm leads the series 2-0. Overall in program history, Gannon leads 5-2. They haven't met since the 2009-10 season. Lake Erie swept the 2009-10 matchups, 59-45 and 66-61, both on the road.
Storm Forecast: The Storm will conclude the month of November with a home game against local rival Notre Dame College on Monday (Nov. 28).
