LAKE ERIE COLLEGE vs. #8 UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS
LAKE ERIE COLLEGE vs. MISSOURI S&T
The Lake Erie College men's basketball team opens their 2015-16 season against the University of Indianapolis and Missouri University of Science and Technology in neutral site games hosted by Ashland University.
"We are excited to open the season after a solid pre-season," said Storm Head Coach Cliff Hunt. "Indianapolis comes out as a top-10 NCAA DII team in both the NABC and Media polls, so we know our opener is a big challenge. Indianapolis shoots a ton of threes and pushes the pace so we will see right away if our defense is where we want it to be."
"In our Saturday game we play another GLVC team that is an up and coming program" continued Hunt. "Missouri S&T has a unique style where they press on defense and are up-tempo to an extreme on offense. It will be a tough game in the second game of back to back games. Our depth will really be important against S&T."
LAST TIME OUT: The Storm finished their 2014-15 season with a 12-14 overall record and a 9-13 mark in the GLIAC. However, they ended the season on a four-game winning streak and captured a season sweep of GLIAC South Division Champion Ashland University.
SERIES HISTORY: The Storm is 1-1 all-time against Indianapolis. They met twice in 2009, with the home team picking up the victory each time. Saturday marks the first meeting between the Storm and Missouri S&T.
OPPOSITION POSITION: Indianapolis enters the game ranked eighth in the nation. Last season, they finished with a 25-6 record. Missouri S&T finished last season with a 9-17 record. The Miners were picked seventh in the preseason GLVC Coaches' Poll.
FORECAST: The Storm makes their home debut next Thursday (Nov. 19) against Seton Hill University at 7 p.m.
