(PHILIPPI, West Virginia) – Lake Erie begins a two-week road stretch which will begin in the Mountain State as the Storm will take on Alderson Broaddus Saturday at high noon. The Storm (1-4, 1-2) are coming off of a defeat against Walsh for homecoming, while the Battlers (0-5, 0-2) fell at home to Ohio Dominican.
It will be the third game in the series all-time between the two schools with each team winning at home. It began in 2017 after Lake Erie joined the G-MAC and saw the Storm come back from 12 points down to defeat the Battlers 16-15 at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. Last year the Battlers evened the series with a big first quarter en route to a 55-27 win.
The quarterbacks for each team are nearly identical across the stat line. Javarian Smith (Pontiac, Mich.) has completed 88 passes for 1,109 yards with eight touchdowns this season. The Battlers' Joe Czelusniak is ahead of him with 99 completions, but behind him in yards with 1,073. He too has eight touchdowns and both of them have a long of 51 for the year.
As expected, both teams feature talented wide receivers. Nate Dantley Jr. (Tampa, Fla.) is third in the league with 95.8 yards per game on 29 receptions. Josh Hufstetler (North Olmsted, Ohio) also cracks the top 10 with 54.6. AB answers with Dominic Pegley who stands eighth with 60.4. Damon Rodgers is 11th with 54.4.
Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. with coverage on the Great Midwest Digital Network.
