QUICK NOTES: Lake Erie closes a two-game homestand as it welcomes nationally-ranked Hillsdale to The Britt on Homecoming/Alumni Weekend... the Storm (1-2, 0-2 GLIAC) fell behind early 21-0 last week against Saginaw Valley State before rallying to get within a touchdown at 28-20. But a late TD with five minutes to go clinch the win for the Cardinals and sent LEC to a 35-20 defeat, the second in a row for the Storm. Despite the loss, senior WR Brandon James (Mentor) had his fifth career 100-yard receiving game (8 catches, 101 yards, 1 TD) and junior K Sam Marcotte (Chardon) kicked a pair of field goals and recovered his own onside kick.  Sophomore S DaVon Coman (Akron North) made a carer-high 11 tackles on defense and senior S Steve Bensinger (South Range) became the first player in school history with two interceptions in a game. After dropping its opener, Hillsdale has won two straight. The Chargers knocked off Grand Valley State 34-31 two weeks ago and outlasted Ashland 40-34 in triple overtime last Saturday.  These two teams combined for 79 points and over 925 yards of offense in a thrilling 42-37 game last year in Hillsdale, won by the then 12th-ranked Chargers.

UP NEXT: The Storm is on the road next weekend for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Ferris State University on Saturday night, Oct. 1.
