Storm baseball alumnus David Lemasters started today's game with the Lake Erie Crushers after signing a contract to join the Frontier League on Tuesday.
Lemasters owns an impressive collegiate career, setting the Storm baseball program record for career strikeouts (269), single-season strikeouts (90), and tied the record for strikeouts in one game (14). Additionally, Lemasters earned a first-team All-G-MAC selection his final year and a second-team All-G-MAC selection the season prior.
Head coach of the Storm Ray Skjold believes that Lemasters will have a lasting legacy in the program. "We are all very proud of Dave.", said Skjold. "He will go down in the record books as one of the best pitchers in the history of Lake Erie Baseball. Everyone is excited for him to start his professional career".
The Lake Erie Crushers fell to the Evansville Otters with a final score of 6-0 in the Storm alum's professional debut. Lemasters (0-1) got both the start and five innings of work, but gave up four runs (earned) on seven hits and six walks, while earning three strikeouts.
