PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College baseball program has been selected to receive a technology in baseball scholarship from Diamond Kinetics and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
The technology scholarship is presented to one college, one high school, and one travel team that demonstrates a desire, along with a need, to adopt and integrate technology in their program.
Lake Erie's baseball program will be receiving a $2,000 dollar scholarship to use on Diamond Kinetic products and services. This scholarship will provide the baseball program with the necessary technology to better understand each student-athlete's swing and how to best improve it.
Head Coach Cameron Castro said, "This is a great honor for our program, to be able to be recognized by one of the top tech companies in the baseball industry as well as our coaches association is a big deal. When I got to Lake Erie, one thing that was really important to me was providing our student-athletes with access to information and data that they previously haven't been privy to. Data collection is a focal point in our program, the more we collect, the more we analyze, the more we can do for our players."
Coach Castro added, "We've come a long way with technology integration since I got here, but we have our sights set on being a leader at the Division II level in data collection and analysis – and this scholarship is going to help us do just that."
Coach Castro will be accepting the award and grant on January 6th at the 74th annual ABCA Convention being held this year in Indianapolis, IN.
