BAY CITY, MICH. -- Lake Erie College junior righthanded pitcher Adam Beach (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Pitcher of the Week by the league office on Monday (March 26).
Beach tossed his first career shutout in Lake Erie's conference-opening 1-0 road win at 10th-ranked Grand Valley State University on Saturday (March 24). It was his second straight win and second start in a row without allowing a run, extending his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 14.
In his seven innings of work, he held the Lakers to just five hits and two walks, while striking out five. On the season, Beach is 2-2 with a 1.01 ERA in four starts (26.2 IP). He has struck out 27 and walked just 10.
This is the second time in his career that Beach has received the weekly conference honor. He earned Pitcher of the Week accolades for the first time last season following a 2-hitter against Wayne State University.
Saginaw Valley State University catcher Chet LaFave was named the GLIAC Player of the Week.
