PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Lake Erie College women's volleyball player Lee Lee Barrett (Chattanooga, Tn. / Ooltewah) and wrestler Tyler Hughes (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) were named the Lake Erie SAAC Student-Athletes for their performance in the month of November.
Coach Kevin Foeman said "she was a force both offensively and defensively". Barrett tallied an impressive 55 kills and 32 blocks over a six game span. Barrett's play helped to propel the Storm to the GLIAC Semi-Final round, as she was named All-GLIAC Tournament team with 17 kills and 15 blocks in the GLIAC tournament.
Barrett was named Second Team All-Conference as she was second in the GLIAC in overall blocks, and she led the conference in solo blocks with 59.
Hughes is off to a fast start this season as he has won the 184 pound weight class at both the Mount Union Invite and the Findlay Open. Hughes was a combined 9-0 in those tournaments. Hughes ranks in the top three of the region for the 184 pound weight class, and is a perfect 10-0 on the season thus far against Division-II opponents.
Hughes will put his perfect record on the line when the Storm wrestling team travels to Indianapolis to compete in the Midwest Classic.
