NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Lake Erie College cross country team was in action today (Oct. 21) as they competed in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships at Trevecca Nazarene University.
"Our athletes ran really at our first GMAC championship meet," said Storm head coach Matt Stuck. "6 athletes had season bests on a course that ran slower than normal. 2 athletes having lifetime bests on the weekend. On the women's side our top 3 ladies had some of the top place finishes at a conference meet in school history. Everyone left the meet with high moral and expectations of running lifetime bests to Lock Haven this coming weekend."
The women were led by Catherine Beisel (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) as she was the first member of the Storm to break the tape in a time of 24:55.5 minutes. Five seconds later, Gina Henley (Akron, New York / Akron) crossed the line for Lake Erie with a time of 25:01.6 minutes.
The men were led by Xavier Kibet as he ran a time of 27:34.4 minutes, which was the best time posted by a member of the Storm. A minute later, George Lesnak (Mantua, Ohio / Crestwood) crossed the line in time of 28:24.9 minutes.
Lake Erie will be back in action Saturday (Oct. 28) when they travel to compete in the Lock Haven River Run.
