PAINESVILLE, OHIO -- The 2010 cross country season got underway on Saturday (Sept. 4) for the Lake Erie College teams at the unscored Tiffin University/Heidelberg University Short Course Invitational in Tiffin, Ohio.
The women ran a two-mile loop, while the men competed in a four-mile race. Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican University joined co-hosts Tiffin and Heidelberg in the event.
Highlighting the Storm's performance for the women were junior Allison Wright (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) and sophomore Sammie Smith (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick). Wright placed seventh with a time of 13:08, while Smith was one spot behind in 13:15.
On the men's side, sophomore Cody Lancaster (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) placed 10th in 21:22. Freshman Nick Chlad (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) was 16th with a time of 21:47 for the Storm, who were without their two of their top runners due to injury.
Nex tup for the Storm will be a trip to Erie, Pa. for the Penn State-Behrend Invitational.
