Storm Falls to Ohio Dominican in Straight Sets

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Freshman Mary Walter (Solon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) recorded nine kills and the Storm blocked seven attacks, but it was not enough as Lake Erie fell to Ohio Dominican, 3-0 (16-25, 16-25, 17-25), on Saturday (Oct. 24) afternoon at Athletic Center Arena.

The Storm took a 9-8 lead in the first set, but the Panthers put away five straight points to roll to the first set win. Lake Erie also scored the first four points in the second set, but Ohio Dominican was able to tie it back up at 6-6 before going on to win the set.

The Storm never led in the third set, but fought back from a 19-7 deficit and scored 10 of the next 15 points, before the Panthers were able to finish the sweep.

Ohio Dominican used a balanced offensive attack to down the Storm, as five players finished with at least six kills in the match, while Cassie Schroeder and Elyse Mongillo split the assists.

Senior Erica Muniak (Geneva, Ohio/Geneva) recorded 12 digs to lead the back line defense. Krista O'Connor (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) and Brittany Raggets (Eastlake, Ohio/Villa Angela-St. Joseph) notched 11 digs each.
