Vandermeer Finishes 6th at NCAA Championships, Earns Lake Erie's First All-American Honor

Freshman Matt Vandermeer finished 3-3 and in sixth place at 165 pounds at the national meet Saturday, becoming the Storm's first wrestling All-American.

Vandermeer Clinches Spot in All-American Rounds at NCAA Championships

Freshman Matt Vandermeer won two matches Friday (March 9) to clinch a spot in the top eight at the NCAA Division II National Championships in Pueblo, Colo. Vandermeer is now guaranteed to finish no lower than eighth and will be Lake Erie's first wrestling All-American. Classmate Austin Gillihan bowed out of the tournament on Day One.
