Wrestling Set for Tiffin & Gannon (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The #23 Lake Erie College wrestling team will travel to Tiffin and Gannon for two dual matchups this week. The Storm will face the Dragons on Wednesday (Feb. 7) night at 7:00 PM and the Golden Knights on Friday (Feb. 9) night at 7:00 PM.

"We are headed down the stretch and looking towards regionals at this time of the year," said Storm head coach Kevin Hoogenboom. "We are getting closer to being healthy throughout the roster so there will be several wrestlers getting action for the last three duals of the year. Tiffin and Gannon are very strong teams so we expect tough matches."

Storm Report: Lake Erie is 7-8 in duals this season following a 36-12 victory over #18 Findlay on Saturday (Feb. 3) for Senior Night. Tenth-ranked Blake Glogouski (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) won his 125 pound match with a first period fall while 133-pounder Forrest Glogouski (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) and 197-pounder Jesse Palser (Mansfield, Ohio / Mansfield) each had decision victories in the dual.

G-MAC Athlete of the Week: B. Glogouski was named Great Midwest Athlete of the Week on Tuesday (Feb. 6) after he won his match on Saturday with a pin in 2:47 over Zachary Collins of Findlay. His pin gave the Storm six points towards its win over #18 Findlay. Blake is the third different Storm wrestler to earn Athlete of the Week honors this season.

Technical Falls Leader: Nick Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston) is the Division II leader in technical falls with eight. Vandermeer holds the lead with eight tech falls spanning a time of 34:39. He has picked up tech fall victories in duals against Kutztown, Upper Iowa, King and Belmont Abbey at 165 pounds. He also picked up tech fall victories at the Mount Union Invite, Findlay Open and Midwest Classic. He currently has an overall record of 18-9 this season.

Opposition Position: Tiffin is 7-3 this season so far in duals after the Dragons fell #4 Ashland on Saturday (Feb. 3). The Dragons have two nationally ranked wrestlers. Gannon is 8-6 this season after a 37-10 dual victory over Shippensburg. The Golden Knights have three nationally ranked wrestlers.

Forecast: The Storm will wrestle at #19 Wheeling Jesuit on Tuesday (Feb. 13).
