#23 Storm Hosts #18 Findlay on Senior Night

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The #23 Lake Erie College wrestling team will host the #18 University of Findlay Roughnecks on Saturday (Feb. 3) night at 7:00 PM for Youth and Senior Night. Lake Erie will honor three seniors: Isaiah Wheeler, Tyler Hughes and Nick Vandermeer.

Storm Report: Lake Erie is 6-8 in duals this season following a 3-3 showing at the Midwest Regional Duals at Belmont Abbey College last weekend. The Storm picked up victories over #22 King University, Coker College and the host Belmont Abbey College. Tyler Hughes (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) finished the weekend with a perfect 6-0 record, including three decisions, two technical falls and one fall. Nick Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston) was 5-0 overall with two tech falls and two pins. Blake Glogouski (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) wrestled four matches and was perfect with pinfalls in three of them.

NCAA Rankings: Lake Erie dropped eight spots in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches' Association Poll, released January 19th. The Storm is tied for 23rd. B. Glogouski is ranked tenth in the 125 pound weight class. Vandermeer is ranked seventh in the 165-pound weight class while Hughes is ninth in the 184-pound weight class.

Technical Falls Leader: Vandermeer is the Division II leader in technical falls with eight. Vandermeer holds the lead with eight tech falls spanning a time of 34:39. He has picked up tech fall victories in duals against Kutztown, Upper Iowa, King and Belmont Abbey at 165 pounds. He also picked up tech fall victories at the Mount Union Invite, Findlay Open and Midwest Classic. He currently has an overall record of 18-9 this season.

Opposition Position: The Roughnecks are currently ranked 18th in the rankings with four individuals ranked. Findlay is 8-7 in duals this season after the Roughnecks went 4-2 at the Midwest Regional Duals.

Forecast: The Storm will travel to future G-MAC member Tiffin on Wednesday (Feb. 7) for a dual at 7:00 PM.
