Storm Wins Team Title at Mount Union Invite

ALLIANCE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College wrestling team returned to the mat on Saturday (Nov. 11) at the Mount Union Invitational at Peterson Fieldhouse.

Lake Erie had nine wrestlers place as the Storm won the overall team title.

Forrest Glogouski (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) went 4-0 in the 133 pound weight class as he won the weight class title. Glogouski opened the day with a pinfall victory over Mount Union's Aaron Kammeyer in the first round. In the second round, he advanced to the semifinals with a 9-6 decision over Rodney Sunday of Seton Hill. Glogouski punched his ticket to the finals with a 7-3 decision victory against Dillon Stowell of Brockport. Glogouski clinched the weight class title with a 6-2 decision over Ohio Northern's Brad Taton.

Tyler Hughes (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) won three matches en route to the 184-pound weight class championship. Hughes began his tournament with a 10-0 major decision over Isaiah Watson-Kirksey (Mount Union). He won his second match of the day by a 5-2 decision against Seton Hill's Nathan Bowlen. In the championship, Hughes secured his title with a narrow 7-6 decision over Chuck Sharon of Campbellsville.

Lake Erie had two wrestlers place in the 197-pound weight class. Jesse Palser (Mansfield, Ohio / Mansfield) finished 3rd and Chris Droege (Austintown, Ohio / Austintown-Fitch) placed 6th. Palser won his first two matches of the day, including a 2-1 2 OT sudden victory over Seton Hill's Jody Crouse. Palser fell in the semifinal to Jake Temple from Seton Hill in a 3-2 decision. In the consolation semifinal, Palser won via a 6-4 decision against Gannon's Ethan Budd. In a rematch with Crouse, Palser earned third place with a 3-2 decision. Droege started the day with a 3-1 decision against Gunner Loughman from Gannon. He followed up the first round with a 13-0 major decision over Bellarmine's Brett Bryant. Droege dropped his next two matches via pinfall and fell in the fifth place match versus Budd in an 11-4 decision.

Brandon Houle (Sparta, Mich. / Rockford / Hope) won four matches as he fought back to a third place finish in the heavyweight weight class. Houle won his first match with a 1:20 pinfall over Fadehan Kolawole from Seton Hill. He defeated Nigel Toussaint of Gannon with a 7-3 decision in the second round. Houle was moved to the consolation bracket with a 6-2 decision loss in the semifinal to Gannon's Nick Budd. In the consolation match, Houle advanced to the third place match with a second round pin over Cody Carr from Mount Union. Houle beat Toussaint for the second time with a 3-1 decision in the third place match.

Nick Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich / Clarkston) finished fourth in the 165-pound weight class. Vandermeer opened his day with an 18-2 technical fall victory over Ohio Valley's Ali Capobianco. He used a second round pinfall over Gannon's Chris Matthews to advance to the semifinal. He fell in a 9-7 decision against Jesse Gross (Mount Union) in the semfinal. He pinned Eric Beck of Bellarmine in the first round but then fell to Matthews in the third place match by pinfall.

Blake Glogouski (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) finished fourth in the 125-pound weight class. He won his first two matches of the day by pin fall against Mount Union's Trent Gill and Bellarmine's Caleb Yates. He dropped his semifinal match against Nick Mancini of Mount Union in a 7-5 decision. Glogouski bounced back with an 8-5 decision over Ohio Valley's Anthony Tripke, advancing to the third place match. He fell to Alan Diltz of Seton Hill by an 8-1 decision, finishing fourth.

133-pounder Zane Johnson (Plain City, Ohio / Jonathan Alder) and 141-pounder Sean O'Hearon (Albion, Mich. / -) each won three matches to finish sixth and fifth, respectively.

The Storm will return to action at the Findlay Open next Saturday (Nov. 18).
