Storm Continues GLIAC Slate with Tiffin, Findlay (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College wrestling team will compete in two GLIAC duals this weekend as they host Tiffin University on Friday (Feb. 3) and then they will travel to the University of Findlay (Feb. 4).

"We are coming down to the end of the season with just a few matches left so we are looking forward to competing.  We have an opportunity to face two ranked teams and close out our conference dual season," said Storm head coach Kevin Hoogenboom.

Storm Report: The Storm has a record of 1-4 in duals so far this season. The Storm split the two duals on Saturday (Jan. 30). Lake Erie defeated #16 Kutztown 29-12 before dropping a GLIAC dual to #12 Ashland 35-3.

Team Rankings: In the DII Wrestling Coaches Association rankings released on Wednesday (Feb. 1), the Storm was ranked 12th, up from 14th in the last poll two weeks ago. The team was also ranked fourth in the Super Region Two rankings released on January 31st.

Individual Rankings: Four Storm wrestlers were nationally ranked in the DII Wrestling Coaches Association rankings released on Wednesday (Feb. 1). Blake Glogouski (New Paris, Ind. / Fairfield) was ranked eighth at 125 pounds. Nick Boggs (Concord, Ohio / Riverside) was ranked second at 149 pounds. Nick Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich. / Clarkston) is seventh in the 165 pounds weight class. At 184 pounds, Tyler Hughes (Brunswick, Ohio / Brunswick) is slotted 11th in his weight class. Eight wrestlers were ranked regionally.

Opposition Position: Tiffin is ranked 11th in the latest D2WCA national rankings as the Dragons have a 9-4 dual record. The Roughnecks are 7-7 in the dual portion of their schedule. Findlay is ranked tenth in the national rankings.

Series History: Last season, the Storm faced the Dragons and Roughnecks four times total. The Storm split a pair of matches against Tiffin last season. Lake Erie defeated swept both matches against Findlay.

Storm Forecast: The Storm will host Gannon University on Wednesday February 15th for Senior Night.
