Storm Set for Showdown with Notre Dame (PREVIEW)

#9 Lake Erie College at #1 Notre Dame College

The ninth-ranked Lake Erie College wrestling team will travel down the road to face top-ranked Notre Dame College Sunday (Jan. 24).

LAST TIME OUT: The Storm defeated 20th-ranked Ashland University 22-15 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) dual last weekend.  Overall, the Storm won six of the nine contested bouts.  Austin Gillihan, Matt Vandermeer, Tyler Hughes and Noah Hosking won by major decision while Nick Boggs and Nicholas Vandermeer won by decision.

SERIES HISTORY: The Falcons have won three of the four meetings with the Storm.  Last season, the then 15th-ranked Storm upset the Falcons 18-16 in Painesville.  After going back-and-forth throughout the dual, Rosborough won in sudden victory, followed by a decision win by Hosking to seal the upset.

IN THE RANKINGS: The Storm currently sit ninth in the Division-II rankings.  Individually, 157-pounder Christian Baughman (5th), 165-pounder Matt Vandermeer (5th), 174-pounder Nicholas Vandermeer (8th) and 197-pounder Evan Rosborough (8th) appear in the top-eight rankings in their weight class.

OPPOSITION POSITION: The top-ranked Falcons are undefeated in duals this year, most recently defeating Ashland 37-3 at home.  133-pounder David Bavery (7th), 141-pounder Coby Fehr (8th), 157-pounder Jonatan Rivera (3rd), 184-pounder Joey Davis (1st) and 197-pounder Garret Lineberger (4th) appear in the individual rankings.
