Storm Wrestling Announces 2015-16 Recruiting Class

PAINESVILLE, Ohio-- After sending a program record five wrestlers to the NCAA Division-II Wrestling National Championships last season, Lake Erie Head Coach Kevin Hoogenboom and his staff looks to bring the program to the next level with a strong recruiting class heading into the 2015-16 season.

"There is a lot of talent in this class we hope to develop their skill sets even further while providing an optimal environment for success on all levels," said Hoogenboom.  "Many of them will challenge for spots immediately and all of them will provide exceptional depth as we look to take our program to the next level."

Overall, 12 wrestlers will join the Storm this spring, including state qualifiers from Ohio, Michigan and New York.

"We feel this is the most well rounded  recruiting class we have brought in since the we began the program," said Hoogenboom.  "Along with their wrestling talents, our staff felt that all of our recruits fit the mold of successful students at Lake Erie College and are a bunch of good kids that love the sport and want to work hard. The average GPA for the incoming class is well over 3.0 which is very important to us."

Next season, the Storm returns eight starters from the Regional Runner-up lineup.
"One thing is for sure: The competition in the wrestling room will be at the highest level it has ever been," concluded Hoogenboom. "Starting roles won't be easily earned for any one including our upper classmen. We are ready to make a big jump this year."
