Rosborough Takes Second, Zivcic Fourth at Mercyhurst Open

ERIE, Pa.—The Lake Erie College wrestling team competed at the Mercyhurst Laker Open in Erie, Pa. on Saturday (November 8th).

Evan Rosborough (Concord Township, Ohio/Riverside) and Dylan Zivcic (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor/Lakeland) had the top finishes for the Storm, placing second and fourth in the respected weight classes.

Rosborough won his first match by major decision and his second via pinfall in the first minute.  He won his semifinal match 7-0 but fell in the finals, placing him in second.

Zivcic picked up decisions in his first two matches at 174-pounds but was unsuccessful in the semifinals.  He won his first consolation match via decision but fell in the third place match as he finished fourth.  Alec Mills picked up a technical fall in the consolation bracket at 174-pounds.

Ian Ross (Newark, N.Y./Newark) picked up two wins through a major and technical decision before falling in the semifinals at 125-pounds. 

Ross Bahro (Keego Harbor, Mich./West Bloomfield) picked up two wins in the consolation bracket at 133-pounds.

Nick Boggs (Concord Township, Ohio/Riverside) won his first match of the day before dropping to the consolation bracket.  He won his first consolation match but fell in the second one.

Chayse Csongedi (Parma, Ohio/Parma) won his opening match at the day at 149-pounds before falling into the consolation bracket.  He won his first match in the consolation rounds via pinfall but fell in the second one. Isaac Morisette (Southgate, Mich./Southgate/Oakland C.C.) also competed at 149-pounds, picking up two wins in the consolation bracket.

Justin Smith (Canal Falls, Ohio/Northwest) picked up two wins in the 157-pound bracket via major and technical decisions but ended the day at 2-2.

Nicholas Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) started the tournament on a tear.  He picked up pin falls in his first two matches at 165-pounds and a major decision in the third.  However, he fell in the semifinals and had a forfeit his consolation bracket match.

Tyler Hughes (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) picked up a pinfall and a decision in his first two matches but fell in the quarterfinals at 184-pounds.  He won his first consolation match via decision but was unable to win his second consolation match.

The Storm is back in action next Saturday (Nov. 15) competing at the Mount Union Invitational.
