Full Association Release

EDMOND, Okla.—The Lake Erie College wrestling team was pegged at 14th in the NCAA Division-II Wrestling Coaches Association Preseason Poll released Monday (Oct. 27).

The Storm was ranked as the top team in Super Region II in the D2Wrestle.com Preseason Coaches' Poll earlier this week.

Last season, the Storm finished 25th in the country.  The team sent four wrestlers to nationals where Zak Vargo (Stow, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) and Evan Rosborough (Concord Township, Ohio/Riverside) earned All-American honors.

In addition to the team ranking, two Storm wrestlers earned national rankings in their weight class.  All-American Matt Vandermeer (Clarkston, Ohio/Clarkston) was ranked eighth at 165-pounds.  Vandermeer finished sixth at the Division-II Championships in 2012.  After finishing eighth as a freshman last year, Rosborough was ranked third in the poll.

The Storm opens up their 2014-15 season Sunday (Nov. 2) at the Michigan State Open.
