Storm Ranked First in Super Region II Preseason Coaches' Poll

BELMONT, N.C.—The Lake Erie College wrestling team received the top ranking in the Coaches' Preseason Super Region II poll released Friday (Oct. 24).

The Storm is coming off a season in which four wrestlers qualified for Nationals and two earned All-American honors. 

The Storm were followed in the polls by Tiffin University, Newberry College, the University of Findlay and Limestone College.

The coaches' also released preseason rankings for each weight class.  Matt Vandermeer (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) and Evan Rosborough (Concord Twp., Ohio/Riverside) were ranked as the top-ranked wrestlers at 165 and 197-pounds respectively.  Both Vandermeer and Rosborough are former All-Americans.  Ian Ross (Newark, N.Y./Newark), Dylan Zivcic (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor/Lakeland) and Zev Green (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville) were ranked third at 125, 174 and 185-pounds respectively.  Ross and Zivcic have competed at the National Championships.  Dylan Kager (Shalersville, Ohio/Crestwood), who qualified for Nationals last year as a freshman at 141-pounds, was ranked fourth at 149-pounds.  Christian Baughman (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) was ranked sixth at 157-pounds.

The Storm opens their season November 2 at the Michigan State Open.
