PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Fighting through tough conditions throughout the day, Lake Erie College senior Amanda Blasko (Concord, Ohio/Mentor) played her way into contention at the 2012 GLIAC Championship in Midland, Mich. Blasko is in 11th place through 36 holes of the 54-hole event.
Despite the first round being delayed over an hour due to frost, Blasko came out on fire with an opening 79 which placed fourth overall after the first 18 holes. The senior backed that up with an 85 in the afternoon round, dropping into 11th place.
Blasko is 12 strokes off the lead entering the final round but just five shots back of third place and a single stroke away from seventh. The Lake Erie no. 1 has done her best work on the par 3s and par 5s. Blasko has played the par 3s at +1, tied for second of all participants and the par 5s in +2, tied for sixth overall.
Lake Erie junior Megan Lundblad (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) is in 38th after rounds of 98-98-196. Rounding out the Storm's effort is junior Stephanie Recktenwald (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Monroe Falls) at 121-105-226.
