PAINESVILLE, OHIO – The Lake Erie College women's golf team ended Sunday's second round of the Mercyhurst Collge Fall Invitational Sunday (Sept. 11) just where it began as it was unable to make up any ground in the standings, finishing in sixth place at the season-opening event in Erie, Pa.
Junior Megan Lundblad (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) was Lake Erie's low scorer, finishing in 12th place with a 78-88-166. Senior Amanda Blasko (Concord, Ohio/Mentor) tied for 16th at 78-91-169 and sophomore Taylor Wilson (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) was at 91-94-185, tying for 35th and giving the Storm three top-40 finishers.
Walsh University won the team title with a score of 630, six shots better than Wheeling Jesuit. The Storm ws at 705, well ahead of the seventh-place team, Washington & Jefferson College, in the nine-team event.
Host Mercyhurst had the individual medalist, as Caitlin Kempton won the event with a 77-73-150.
The Storm is back in action this weekend with a return trip to Erie. This time, it is for the Michael Corbett Fall Classic at Gannon University, Sept. 18-19.
