Storm Women's Basketball Picked 10th in GMAC Preseason Poll

(INDIANAPOLIS)- The Storm Women's Basketball team has been picked tenth in the 2018-19 Great Midwest Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll presented by Under Armour. They received 61 points in the voting.

Last season the Storm women's basketball team had an overall record of 13-16, which included a 9-13 conference play record. The Storm will have two big roles to fill on the court this season, as Kayla Gabor and Christine Dawson, who averaged a combined 22 points and 15 rebounds per game in their senior seasons, have both graduated.

Returning for the Storm are junior guards Josie Chaddock and Farrah Benner. Chaddock averaged 10.9 points and 3 rebounds last season and was the third highest scorer for the Storm. Benner averaged 7.6 points and 2 rebounds.

The Storm women's basketball team is under new leadership for the 2018-2019 season as well, as Brook Kohlheim was named head coach in April. Kohlheim is ready to lead the Storm in her inaugural season. She said, "We have some great teams in this league and the competition to be on top is what we are hunting for. I am excited about where we stand in the league. The parity on any given night has been the driving force behind our preseason and our upcoming recruiting class. I am looking forward to how we evolve throughout the year and challenge ourselves to compete every day."

The Storm opens up the 2018-2019 season at Wayne St. on November 11. Their first home game will be on November 29, against Alderson Broaddus to open up G-MAC season.
