Women's Basketball Faces Cedarville in G-MAC Quarterfinal (Preview)

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Lake Erie College women's basketball team will take place in their first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament on Thursday (March 1) as they will take on the #1 seed Cedarville at 6:00 PM in the quarterfinals.

Storm Report: Lake Erie ended the regular season with a 13-15 overall record and a 9-13 conference record. The Storm defeated the defending G-MAC tournament champion Malone 87-64 on the final day of the regular season to clinch the final playoff spot. Kayla Gabor (Mentor, Ohio / Mentor) finished with 22 points as she ended the regular season with an average of 19.3 points per game.

Playoffs: This will be the second time since the Storm moved to Division II that Lake Erie made the conference playoffs. Lake Erie made the GLIAC Tournament in the 2011-2012 season.

Opposition Position: Cedarville finished the regular season with a 23-5 overall record and an 18-4 G-MAC record. They won the regular season title with a 69-34 win over Alderson Broaddus in the regular season finale. Regina Hochstetler leads the Yellow Jackets with 17.8 points per game but was sidelined with a knee injury late in the regular season.

Series History: Cedarville took both matchups of the regular season series as the Yellow Jackets won 71-60 in January and 75-70 in February.

Storm Forecast: The winner of the Lake Erie-Cedarville game will face the winner of the Ursuline-Hillsdale contest.
