Storm Adds Four in Early Signing Period

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College women's basketball coach Bob Booher announced the addition of four new members of the program for the 2017-2018 season.  Coach Booher commented, "We wanted to add some height to our team and signing three 6 foot plus players is great for our program."

Breanna Bauer, Sheldon Bochenek, Paige Tranchida, and Alexis Todd will join the Storm in the Fall. 

The four new student-athletes join the Storm from high schools in Ohio and Michigan.

Prior to Lake Erie: Bauer was a member of the 2016 regional championship team as well as being named All-Area first team.  Off the court she was a member of the ALL ACADEMIC TEAM with a 3.9 GPA.

Prior to Lake Erie: Bochenek was a member of the 2015 State championship team.  She was also named 2015 Roundball Classic MVP.

COACH BOOHER- "I CAN'T BELIEVE THE POTENTIAL THAT SHELDON BRINGS TO OUR PROGRAM! A SIX FOOTER THAT CAN DEFEND POST OR PERIMETER PLAYERS. WE LOVE HER ABILITY TO RUN THE FLOOR, HANDLE THE BALL IN THE OPEN COURT WITH THE ABILITY TO MAKE PLAYS. SHE IS A COMMUNICATOR WHICH IS HARD TO TEACH BUT MAKES TEAM DEFENSE MUCH BETTER."

Prior to Lake Erie: Tranchida was a four year starter and a three time MVP.  She was named All-Conference and also named to the Conference All-Academic team.

COACH BOOHER- "WE NEEDED TO ADD SIZE, TOUGHNESS AND PHYSICALITY AND PAIGE HAS THESE ATTRIBUTES. SHE HAS A STRONG BACK TO THE BASKET POST UP GAME AND IS DEVELOPING THE OUTSIDE 15 FOOT SHOT AS WELL. PAIGE WILL GIVE US DEPTH IN THE POST AND WILL CHALLENGE US TO GET TOUGHER AS WELL."

Prior to Lake Erie: Todd was named OCC Honorable mention and Defensive Player of the Year in 2015-2016.  She has also been a four year scholar athlete.   

Coach Booher – "LEXI WILL BRING US TOUGHNESS ON THE PERIMETER AND WILL COMPETE AND PUSH HER TEAMMATES DAILY. SHE IS A STRONG PERIMETER PASSER AND AS A SENIOR IS LOOKING TO SCORE MORE AND THAT OFFENSIVE AGGRESSIVENESS WILL BE VALUABLE AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL."
