Storm To Go Against Defending Horizon League Championship Winner

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (November 5, 2008) - Lake Erie College will play an exhibition game against defending Horizon League Championship winner Cleveland State University on Sunday, Nov. 9 at the Wolstein Center at 3 p.m. The contest not only marks the first time in program history the Storm will take the court as an NCAA Division II provisional member, but it's also the first time the Storm will ever face a Division I opponent.

Lake Erie enters the game under the direction of fourth-year head coach Bob Booher (33-43) who led last year's team to its best record in program history at 16-11, while earning its highest Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) finish in second place. Booher was named AMCC Co-Coach of the Year, which was his second honor in three seasons. From the record-setting 2007-08 Storm team returns AMCC Newcomer of the Year, sophomore forward Alyssa Wagers (11.4 ppg, 11.3 rpg), AMCC Second-Team sophomore guard Renese Ames (13.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.8 spg) and senior guard Danielle Ruggieri (2.9 ppg, 3.4 spg, 2.2 apg).

Cleveland State is coming off the most successful season in school history under sixth-year head coach Kate Peterson Abiad (47-101). The Vikings return three starters and eight letterwinners from last year's team that won the Horizon League Championship and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.

Price of admission for the exhibition game is $8.
