Storm Competes at John Homon Invite

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Lake Erie College track and field team was in action today as they competed at the John Homon Invite at Mount Union University.

The Storm women were led by Danielle Corbin (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Walnut Grove (Ga.)) as she had a first place finish in the long jump, clearing a distance of 5.50 meters (18 feet).  Corbin also took second in the triple jump as she jumped a distance of 11.69 meters (38 feet 4 inches).  Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga. / Tucker) earned first place honors in the triple jump as she cleared a distance of 11.72 meters (38 feet 5 inches).  Lee's mark in the triple jump is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark.  Lee also earned a second place finish in the long jump, clearing a distance of 5.4 meters (17 feet 8 inches). Brenda Johnson (Bellefontaine, Ohio / Bellefontaine) added to the strong performance for the Storm women as she set a school record in the javelin, throwing a distance of 36.55 meters (119 feet 10 inches). 

Head Coach Grant Lofdahl said "Brenda had a nice throw in javelin to get the school record. Our high jumpers did well, and Nadia and Danielle continued to make progress in the horizontal jumps".

The Storm men were led by DJ Graham (Gomer, Ohio / Columbus Grove) as he took first place in the 5000 meters in a time of 15:03.66 minutes.  The mark set by Graham is a new school record.  Vincent Horning (Stow, Ohio / Stow) took second place in the 5000 meters as he crossed the finish line in a time of 15:17.70 minutes.  Jordan Pritchard (Painesville, Ohio / Lake Catholic) rounded out the 5000 meters for the Storm as he took fourth in a time of 15:27.54 minutes.  Christopher Vogel (Kirchberg, Germany / Sportgymnasium Chemnitz) added a strong performance in the men's long jump as he cleared a distance of 6.43 meters (21 feet 1 inch).

Lake Erie will return to the track Friday (April 14) when they travel to compete in the Walsh Invitational.
