Storm Signs Sprinter from South Africa

PAINESVILLE, Ohio- The Lake Erie College women's track and field team has announced the signing of Luca Hartman, a talented sprinter from Bloemhof Girls School in Western Cape, South Africa, for the Class of 2017.

"We're very happy that Luca chose LEC," said Storm head coach Grant Lofdahl. "She is an outstanding talent who will immediately make our sprinting crew better when she steps on campus. In getting to know Luca, we found that she is very motivated and hard-working, both in academics and athletics. She's a good student and is the type of well-rounded, quality person we want to bring into our track and field program. She can have a big impact in the sprints when we join the G-MAC conference next year."

Hartman is a three-time ASA Junior Nationals qualifier, who represented South Africa in the Commonwealth Junior Games and qualified for the Senior Nationals in 2016. She boasts personal records of 12.00 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 25.03 in the 200-meter dash.

Hartman will enroll at LEC in August 2017 and plans to study Psychology.
