ASHLAND, Ohio—The Lake Erie College track and field team prepped for the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Championships at the Ashland Alumni Open April 29-30.

"We had a very nice meet, especially considering the weather conditions today," said Storm Head Coach Grant Lofdahl. "We tried some new things, like Danielle Corbin in triple jump, Nadia Lee in high jump, DJ Graham in the 1500. Brenda Johnson had a really good day with PRs in shot put and javelin, and it was great to see Vince Horning getting back to where he wants to be in the 1500. Freshmen Jordan Pritchard and Aneesa Volkman set school records in the 800 and 5K, respectively."

Danielle Corbin (Brooklyn, N.Y./Walnut Grove) finished first in two events.   She won the long jump with a distance of 5.66 meters, tying the school record. She also won the triple jump with a distance of 11.03 meters.

Nadia Lee (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 10.68 meters.  She also placed eighth in the high jump, clearing 1.56 meters.

Brenda Johnson (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellfontaine) had a pair of top eight finishes.  She took fifth in the shot put with a toss of 13.01 meters and sixth in the javelin with a throw of 30.40 meters. Kaitlyn Menges (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) placed sixth in the shot put with a toss of 12.75 meters.

Ashley Pryce (Stow, Ohio/Stow Munroe Falls) finished eighth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.80. Aneesa Volkman (Wauseon, Ohio/Wauseon) set a school record in the 5000 meters with a time of 19:23.61 to finish in 11th.

Christopher Vogel (Kirchberg, Germany/Sportgymnasium Chemnitz) won the triple jump with a distance of 13.75 meters.  Alex Jolly (Staten Island, N.Y./Wagner) finished fifth in the long jump with a leap of 6.43 meters.

Jordan Pritchard (Painesville, Ohio/Lake Catholic) placed second in the 800 meter with a time of 1:52.79, missing a NCAA Provisional Mark by just half a second.

The Storm men had three top eight finishers in the 1500 meter.  DJ Graham (Gomer, Ohio/Walnut Grove) finished third with a time of 4:02.18.  Vince Horning (Stow, Ohio/Stow) finished just behind Graham in fourth with a time of 4:02.51.  Logan Ebersole (Chesterville, Ohio/Highland) placed seventh with a time of 4:06.23.

Kurtis Taylor (Holland, Ohio/Springfield) placed fifth in the javelin with a toss of 43.50 meters.

"If we get a couple of key people healthy, and we compete as hard and with the kind of mentality we showed today, we're going to have a very good GLIAC meet next week," concluded Lofdahl.
