PAINESVILLE, OHIO – A select group of sprinters and hurdlers represented the Lake Erie College track and field teams in a field of mostly NCAA Division I teams Saturday (May 1) at the 25th Annual Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State University.

Freshman Chris Burrows (Trotwood, Ohio/Trotwood Madison) just missed breaking his own school record in the 100-meter dashes.  He finished 13th in the 100, finishing in 10.65 seconds, just .01 off the record and .05 seconds from reaching the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark.  His time of 21.95 seconds in the 200 was good for 15th place.

Classmate Ethan Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail), who reached provisional qualifying (54.00) last weekend at Ashland, placed 11th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.92 seconds.  Fellow freshman Quinton Harley (Rochester, N.Y./Edison Tech) placed 15th in the event at 54.46.

On the women's side, freshman Andrea Boyd (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) also just missed breaking her own record in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 14.68 seconds, just .03 off the LEC mark.

Additionally, the men's 4x100-meter relay team of Burrows, Snyder, Harley and sophomore Joe Lockard (Columbus, Ohio/Circleville) had a strong showing with a time of 42.30 seconds.

The Storm will run a split squad next weekend, participating in the Len Paddock Invitational at the University of Michigan and the Slippery Rock University Qualifier on Friday, May 7.
