Klucar and Ardo Highlight Storm's Night at Toledo

PAINESVILLE, OHIO – Freshman Eric Klucar (Medina, Ohio/Highland) placed first in the pole vault and sophomore Alex Ardo (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) broke two school records to highlight the Lake Erie College track and field teams' performance at the University of Toledo Invitational Friday night (April 30).

Klucar cleared 14' 7 ¼” in the vault to claim the Storm's top performance of the evening.  Lake Erie had three other top-10 performances on the men's side: freshman Isaac Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) in the 400-meter dash (52.22 seconds), junior Kyle Griffith (Painesville, Ohio/Harvey/Capital) in the 5,000-meters (16:08.14) and freshman Cody Lancaster (Eastlake, Ohio/Eastlake North) in the 80-meters (2:00.75).

Ardo broke her own LEC marks in the triple jump (34' 1 ½”) and the javelin throw (86' 2”).  The top finishers on the women's side were classmates Stephanie Rogers (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor) in the high jump (5' 2 ½”) and Allison Wright (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) in the 800 (2:26.80).  Both finished sixth.

Friday night's squad consisted mostly of field event performances and selected sprint and distance races.  The rest of the Storm teams will be in action on Saturday, May 1, at the Jesse Owens Classic at Ohio State University in Columbus.
