Storm Continues Record-Setting, Establishes 15 New Marks

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Lake Erie men's and women's track teams continued their assault on the school record books, compiling 15 new records in the unscored Kent State Golden Flash Gala on Friday (Dec. 11) and Saturday (Dec. 12)
 
With three records set on Friday, the Storm ticked off a dozen new records on Saturday in the Storm's indoor track debut this season.
 
On Saturday, freshman Ethan Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) established two individual school records and helped a win a third for the team. His 8.62-second run in the 60-meter hurdles earned him eighth place out of 16 runners to qualify for the finals. He also finished fourth in the 300-meter dash with a time of 36.01 seconds. That was the highest finish of the day for any Storm individual.
 
Ethan Snyder also anchored the school record-setting 4x400 relay team that finished 12th out of 24 teams with a time of 3:27.40. Also on that relay team were three other freshmen: Donta Covington (Akron, Ohio/North), David Gobrogge (Akron, Ohio/Green) and Eric Wilbert (Maple Heights, Ohio/Maple Heights).
 
Wilbert also set a school record in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:07.81, finishing in 12th place out of 26 runners.
 
On the women's side, freshman Andrea Boyd (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) set a school record in the 60-meter dash with an 8.03-second performance. Boyd also finished 11th in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.32 seconds.
 
Sophomore Allison Wright (Columbus, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) established a new record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.64. She finished fifth in the event out of 25 athletes.
 
Freshman Isaac Snyder (Salesville, Ohio/Buckeye Trail) made his heptathlon debut, finishing 17th in the meet with a total score of 4,399. His top finish came in the 1,000-meter run, in which he finished fifth with a time of 2:48.22.
 
The Storm has the rest of 2009 off before returning to the track on Jan. 16, 2010, at the Kent State Doug Raymond Invitational.
